Dear Owen Sound Girls Field Lacrosse Families,

I hope this message finds you and your family happy and healthy. Last week, the OWFL announced that the official 2020 lacrosse season this summer is cancelled. The OWFL is hopeful that in July and August they will be able to run festival style week-ends. We don’t know what these week-ends will look like or if they will become a reality, but if they do, we would like to enter teams to play in them.

The OSML girls’ field lacrosse executive met Monday night to discuss plans for our athletes to practice and play lacrosse this summer. We are closely following Provincial regulations and are developing a training plan to implement when phase two, allowing outdoor small group training to occur, is announced. We are aiming for June 15th and will be in touch when we know more about what this will look like. We thank you for your patience.

We are in the process of fully refunding all registration money for this season back to families. Our registrars should have this completed soon with the money credited back to your account. When we are able to start to train together, we will send out registration links for our new small group training program and urge you to register. We are hopeful you will stay with us and keep your daughter playing lacrosse this summer when we are able to do so safely.

If you have paid out of area fees to the City of Owen Sound to play lacrosse this season, the City of Owen Sound is in the process of refunding these fees back to you and they hope to complete this process by the end of the week.

Rest assured, our coaches are making plans to train together this summer and we are all looking forward to seeing our lacrosse family in person again very soon. Keep your stick in your hands – we will be ready when all of this passes.
